Carpet exporters have yet not applied for the cash incentive programme as the process is too complicated. Not a single exporter has applied for the export promotion scheme launched last year. “Carpet exporters have applied for the facility till date,” said president of Nepal Carpet Exporters’ Association, Kabindra Nath Thakur. According to him, the procedure has numbers of unusual criteria including submission of a number of bills of each and every product used in the manufacturing process. However, the government has simplified cash incentive process early this month to attract exporters. “There is new review committee in Department of Industry and simplified the process but they is still have to do more to attract carpet exporters,” said Thakur. Responding export sector advices, the department of further simplifying the process. “We are preparing special norms for the garment, pashmina and carpet industry,” said general at the Department of Industry Dhurba Lal Rajbanshi adding that Garment, Pashmina and Carpet sector will get easy process in few days. The department has meetings with the carpet and pashmina exporters association in simplification issue. “We have got their suggestions and we are applying it soon,” he said. The government has formed a three-member committee for effective and prompt evaluation of exporters eligible for cash incentive. The new committee consists of members each from facility department, revenue department and planning department. “Next week we will come up with the list of verified exporters eligible to get the cash incentive,” said Rajbanshi. Currently, there are about 28 exporters who have applied for the cash incentive facility at the department. The Cash Incentive Policy 2068 includes verification of value addition from exporters. |
